Job description
  • Process Operation: Operate thermal spray equipment used for coating aircraft engine components; load/unload parts; monitor spray parameters; perform in-process checks.
  • Part Preparation: Prepare components, fixtures, masking, and surfaces for thermal spray operations in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.
  • Coating Application: Apply thermal spray coatings in accordance with engineering requirements, approved process documentation, and applicable specifications.
  • Surface Preparation: Perform or support required pre-coating preparation activities, including cleaning, masking, grit blasting, and surface condition verification.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct visual inspections before and after processing; verify coating appearance, continuity, and condition; document results; identify and contain nonconformances.
  • Total Productive Maintenance: Perform daily inspection of the equipment in accordance with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
  • Measurement Reports: Prepare coating and inspection records in cooperation with Process Owner to ensure high quality of engine components.
  • Setup Support: Perform equipment setup, fixture preparation, parameter verification, powder or wire feed checks, gas flow verification, and spray gun setup per approved procedure.
  • Process Control: Verify spray parameters, feedstock condition, gas settings, stand-off distance, spray pattern, and equipment condition to ensure process compliance.
  • Quality Control and Certification: Perform inspections and quality control checks on completed work to ensure compliance with standards. Certify your own work in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce coating defects, rework, and process variation; support Kaizen; update standard work and check sheets.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Accurately document and record all performed work in accordance with approved procedures, ensuring traceability and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Work in accordance with Part-145 requirements and all Technical, Quality, and Safety Management System (SMS) standards, both internal and external.
  • Team Leadership: If requested, take responsibility for a group of mechanics performing work under your technical supervision and authorization. Provide coaching, guidance, and instructions to ensure tasks are completed compliantly and efficiently.
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in industrial processes; experience in thermal spray, coating application, surface treatment, or similar repair/manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience operating thermal spray equipment; understanding of coating parameters such as spray distance, gas flow, feed rate, coating thickness, and masking requirements.
  • Measurement Skills: Familiarity with visual inspection methods, coating thickness verification, surface preparation controls, and process compliance checks.
  • Materials: Experience working with aerospace materials such as steels, stainless steels, nickel alloys, titanium, and coating materials used in aviation repair is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to work with technical documentation and internal processes, as well as read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Language Proficiency: Speak and understand English at a minimum B1 level.
  • Training Commitment: Willingness to participate in on-the-job training (min. 6 weeks abroad).
  • Computer Skills: Preferred knowledge of MS Office.
  • Education: Vocational school or high school diploma.
  • Shift Flexibility: Ability to work a shift pattern as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven professional experience in aviation.
  • Experience with thermal spray processes in aerospace repair environments.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation, masking, coating application controls, and post-coating inspection requirements.
  • Experience with standard work, 5S, TPM, and Kaizen.
  • Familiarity with approved coating specifications and process qualification requirements.
