Job description
- Machine Operation: Run 5-axis CNC machining centers; execute grinding operations; load/unload parts; monitor cycle performance; perform in-process checks.
- Lathe Work: Perform manual turning, deburring, and secondary operations as needed; use lathe skills for quick rework and prototype adjustments.
- Quality Assurance: Use precision metrology (CMM interface, height gauge, micrometers, bore gauges, surface finish testers); interpret GD&T; document results; contain nonconformances.
- Total Productive Maintenance: Perform daily inspection of the equipment in accordance with TPM (Total Production Maintenance)
- Measurement reports: Preparation of measurement reports in cooperation with Process Owner to ensure high quality of the engine components
- Setup & Programming Support: Perform fixture and tool setup; input offsets; call and verify programs; minor edits at the control (feeds/speeds/compensation) per procedure.
- Fixture Design: Participate in fixtures design to support Assembly/Disassembly and repair process
- Quality Control and Certification: Perform inspections and quality control checks on completed work to ensure compliance with standards. Certify your own work in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Process Control: Maintain tool life management; verify coolant, lubrication, and machine condition; ensure proper workholding and probe calibration.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify cycle-time, scrap, and rework reduction opportunities; support Kaizen; update standard work and check sheets.
- Documentation & Compliance: Accurately document and record all performed work in accordance with approved procedures, ensuring traceability and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Work in accordance with Part-145 requirements and all Technical, Quality, and Safety Management System (SMS) standards, both internal and external.
- Team Leadership: If requested take responsibility for a group of mechanics performing work under your technical supervision and authorization. Provide coaching, guidance, and instructions to ensure tasks are completed compliantly and efficiently.
Requirements
- 3–5 years operating CNC machining; 5-axis experience preferred; hands-on grinding experience; strong manual lathe background
- Technical Skills: CNC control experience (SINUMERIK/CELOS; FANUC; Heidenhain); tool selection; workholding; probing; offset and compensation;
- Measurement Skills:Proficient with GD&T; capable with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, surface finish measurement; basic CMM data interpretation
- Materials: Experience with steels, stainless, aluminum; exposure to hard metals (e.g., Inconel, titanium) is a plus
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to work with technical documentation, and internal processes, as well as read and interpret technical drawings.
- Language Proficiency: Speak and understand English at a minimum B1 level.
- Training Commitment: Willingness to participate in on-the-job training (min. 6 weeks abroad).
- Computer Skills: Preferred knowledge of MS Office.
- Education: Vocational school or high school diploma.
- Shift Flexibility: Ability to work a shift pattern as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven professional experience in aviation
- 5-Axis Specifics: Experience with complex fixturing, multi-face machining, and tool center point management
- Programming: Basic CAM or CNC programming knowledge (e.g., Siemens ShopMill, Mastercam, NX CAM) for minor edits and setup optimization
- Grinding: Experience with integrated or standalone precision grinding; understanding of wheel selection, dressing, coolant for finish control
- Lean/CI: Experience with standard work, 5S, and Kaizen
